STEAM Week:
In case you missed the parent coffee where our students presented on their STEAM projects you can access the recording here. You can also look at all the students’ projects on this site. Special thanks to Ms. Gemma Adderley and students from Grade 6: Maya Krishnan, Yeonu Seok, and Zahra Kolandai. Grade 7 & 8: Nayeon Yun, Kyoungrim Ryu, and Jiwon Kim, as well as 8th graders Jaeseop Kim, Seungwon Kwak, Sihyun Kang. They were able to share with parents their experiences with STEAM and the process they used to create their projects. There are links to those students’ projects as you click on the photos.
Here is the calendar of upcoming events:
Visiting Campus – Parent / Student / Teacher Conferences
As you know, we are looking forward to having a greater parent presence on campus in the coming weeks. We continue to develop our systems to streamline entry to campus for staff, students, and parents.
Please understand that by external directive, vaccinations are required of adults on campus – faculty, staff, and visitors. We also recognize that vaccination is an extremely effective tool in protecting the health of community members and preventing spread to those unable to vaccinate or at increased risk.
If you are planning to attend Parent Conferences on campus, take a few minutes to complete this form with parent vaccination information and a copy of the certificate. Virtual Conferences will also be an option for parents who cannot attend in-person.
Prior to your conferences, expect to receive a health screening form, which will be submitted at the entrance of the school at the time of your conferences.
Student Parent Teacher Conferences:
We will have the Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences March 31, 4:00 -7:00 pm and April 1, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. It is important that all parents bring their child(ren) to the conferences. Three-way conferences acknowledge the most important participant in the learning process – the student. Please be reminded that you will need to have uploaded proof of vaccination in order to attend conferences on campus. (Here is the link to upload the proof of vaccination)
If you are not vaccinated and wish to attend Parent Conferences, please contact Mr. Ryan McFarland (mryan@aischennai.org) for exemption information, and be prepared to present a recent negative RT-PCR test to enter campus.
The conferences will be held in the teachers’ rooms and are scheduled for 10 minutes with no passing time between conferences. Since there is no time between appointments, you may want to consider leaving a gap between appointments to allow time to get to the next appointment, especially if you are visiting teachers in the Fine Arts Center (FAC). To sign up for conferences, please follow this link. An email with all the details was sent on Tuesday, March 22 regarding conferences.
Cabaret:
Cabaret, our student body’s annual showcase of their jaw-dropping talent is back this year! This year's theme is “AISC’s still got Talent!” and the array of fantastic acts that we got to see at the auditions served to underscore that in more ways than one.
This has been a long time coming, but it will be great for us to get together and celebrate our resilient community.
We look forward to seeing you at the FAC Theatre at 7pm on Friday, April 8th. We will have limited seating at the event, on a first come first served basis.More information on this to come soon!
Math Class Choices for next year:
If your child is an independent thinker, shows extraordinary skills, and has a high level of motivation to learn mathematics, you might be interested in learning more about our process for exceptional math students here. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child’s math teacher.

Reminder about Attendance:
As Mr. Hoover mentioned in his previous notes, there are important changes to our virtual learning policy as you can see below. Virtual learning will only be available to families who have previously committed for the year by the February 25th deadline.
Virtual Learning & Student Absences:
Nearly all AISC students -- 98% -- are now attending our On-Campus Program.
For students attending our On-Campus Program, please note our attendance procedure:
a. If a student is sick or needs to stay at home for personal reasons, they will not attend class virtually. Please complete the ParentLocker survey and notify the section office.
b. If a student is in quarantine/isolation by COVID-19 Protocol, complete the ParentLocker survey and notify the section office to access virtual classes.
Repeat information: Library Use
The library is once again available to MS students before school, during breaks, and during lunch. Students must sign in when entering in order to assist in contact tracing if need be.
Repeat information: Mark your calendars: Portal Project - Parent Sessions
We are excited to introduce a speaker series for parents starting in November called Parenting Beyond the Pandemic. These virtual sessions will bring experts and practitioners directly to our parent community to address a variety of relevant topics. The full list of sessions can be found here and the titles below. Registration for the sessions will take place through Eventbrite.
Have a great weekend!
Take care,
Jennifer Bertram
