Dear Middle School Parents,
It has been a busy first couple of months of school. I love how our students are so engaged and involved in the school life and activities here at AISC. On top of studying hard for their classes, they have been practicing their skills in sports, rehearsing for the play, band and choir festival and preparing their position papers in MUN. We all welcome this timely break as we hit the halfway mark before the winter break. Have a safe and relaxing week off whether you are staying here or heading off to another destination.
ASIAC Badminton and Table Tennis
Students will be going away to Mumbai right after the break for the ASIAC Badminton and Table Tennis Tournament. We have many students on the teams and they have been practicing to improve their skills, some are doing it for the first time while others have more experience. The coaches have appreciated the time and dedication that all the players have put forth for the past couple of months. The students on the travelling teams below represent AISC and their teammates for this tournament:

October Early Release
On October 7th, we will have our second Early Release Wednesday. Please remember that there are no ASAs, clubs or sports on Wednesdays. There is no supervision for any activity after 1:30; therefore, all students need to be off campus at that time. We would like to share some of the feedback we collected following the first Early Release:
- This time was valuable for our teachers' professional learning.
- Thanks to parent support, we were able to close the campus in an orderly and timely manner at the 1:30 release.
- There was concern regarding the delay in getting into the gate to pickup your child(ren). We have since learned that the Ascendas Link Road was under construction that day, which exacerbated the traffic situation.
In preparation for the October 7th Early Release, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school. We appreciate your patience.
Lunch on Early Release Days
Due to the nature of the early release day, and the shortened lunchtime, the Taj Madras Flight Kitchen will be serving "Grab and Go" lunches on these days. The simple, light, veg and non-veg meals will be prepared and served in a way that will allow secondary students to purchase lunch and eat it during the shortened 20 minute period. Please note that these two options will be the only food available for sale in either the iHub or the Secondary Cafeteria from 12:00-12:25 on Early Release Days.
We will be publishing the specifics of the meal for students in the MS and HS Daily Bulletins on Monday, October 5th so students and teachers can plan to bring their own lunch on Wednesday if they choose to do so.
20/21 Learning Dialogues. Please join us on October 8.
As a 20 year old learning organization, we want to continue to explore trends, issues, stories, conversations, and topics that are relevant to our community. We want to look ahead to the next 20 years. To help us do this, we will have a series of dialogues that are open to parents, alumni, MS/HS students and faculty.
On Thursday, October 8, we will be talking about creativity. Doors open at 3:45 p.m., and the event starts at 4:15 p.m. It will end at 5:45 p.m. The location of this dialogue is in the FAC Atrium.
We will hear from community members and dialogue in small groups. Refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Kirsten Welbes (wkirsten@aisch.org), Director of Advancement.
ASIAC Band and Choir Festival
AISC is very excited to host the ASIAC Music Festival this year. The festival will culminate in a grand Gala Concert on Saturday, October 10th at 4pm. Everyone is invited! Admission is open and free. Please bring your friends and family to support over 110 young musicians from from American Embassy School (AES), American School of Bombay (ASB) and our very own AISC students as they sing and play at this memorable event. You don't want to miss it!
Special Coffee Session: Subject Standards
On Monday, 12 October @8:45pm in the Hall of Light. We will be going over the standards for all the subjects that our school follows. We will explain the intricacies of all the standards and reporting standards on the new standards-based report card.
Reminders for Parents and Students on Campus
iHub Use
We have mentioned the importance of parents being sensitive to being in and around middle and high school students’ learning and social spaces while in use by students before, during, and after school. During the school day, middle and high school students need a sense of ownership of their spaces. We are a busy campus and we recognize that community members come and go all day long. The iHub, however, is a place for students to gather, socialize, and collaborate. As such, we request that parents be sensitive to its use during school hours 8:30-3:30, especially right before and right after school, and during all breaks, which happen throughout the day. We encourage parents to use the Parent MC Café during these times.
Rollerblading and Skateboarding
With our beautiful campus, it is very tempting to bring your rollerblades and skateboards (or similar items) to ride around campus. There are many people walking around campus, including little children so we ask that students avoid bringing these items to school (not during the weekends either) for the safety everyone sharing our campus. We appreciate your cooperation.
