Friday May 31

Principal’s Notes
May 31

Dear Parents,

Thank you for a wonderful year! Yesterday we celebrated the accomplishments of our grade eight students as they prepare to move on to high school. In addition to our promotion ceremony, grade eight students also exhibited works from their art-social studies social justice unit. Through their artwork, students demonstrated activism for social causes. Their explanations of social issues, need for advocacy and ability to represent their message through visual arts is a reminder of the internationalism and creativity developed in our program. Enjoy their artwork throughout this week’s blog!

Today, grades six and seven hosted student recognition ceremonies to recognize student’s individual growth and demonstration of the 4C’s of our mission. We thank you for your support of your children and our program this year. We are proud of the individual growth displayed by our students and by the collective accomplishments of our students.

Principal’s Notes

Dear Parents,

We are one week closer to the end of the school year. Next week, all classes will have regular instructional time through Wednesday. We will change our daily schedule on Thursday so that all middle school students can attend the Grade Eight End of Year Celebration and officially “check out” in each class. Friday we will also be on a special schedule for end of year recognition ceremonies for each grade level, wellbeing activities, and final farewells. All students, returning and departing, must return their end of year checklist or withdraw form (with all items reconciled) in order to receive their yearbook. We ask that students return any outstanding items (athletic uniforms, equipment, library books or other resources and fees) by Monday, May 27. Yearbooks will be distributed on Wednesday, May 29.

Student Recognitions
Today we had our final MS monthly assembly for the year. Assemblies are produced by a student assembly crew under the direction of Mr. Jason Kennedy and Ms. Lisa Daniels. Throughout the year, we recognize student participation and accomplishments in assembly. This week’s assembly was especially celebratory. We recognized our students who participated in Model United Nations, our ASIAC basketball and swim teams, Student Voices Forum, Student Ambassadors, and Assembly Crew. We also recognized five MS students who will have their artwork become a part of AISC’s permanent art collection. Congratulations to Ava, Catherine, Seojin, Seunghyn, and Alex! Hereis the slideshow from assembly recognizing all of these individual students and groups.

Seventh grade social studies students are excited to share their social entrepreneurship projects with the community. Based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and identifying challenges facing Chennai, students used the ASIC Design Process to answer the question, How can I create to help others? This is a collaborative project between seventh grade students and local organizations to improve our society and environment.  A few projects may be approved for student-led SEVAI projects for next school year.
