Friday 12 October

Principal’s Notes
12 October 2018

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your families had a relaxing fall break! We have jumped back into action in the middle school. This past week, the Grade 8 Team held its Week Without Walls parent meeting. The slides are linked here. We end the week hosting ASIAC soccer. Thank you to all of our families who are hosting students to help make this event possible. I hope to see you at some of the soccer games or at the AISC track grand opening on Saturday. We left September with Student Parent Teacher Conferences and Celebrations of Learning. Throughout the post are some pictures from our Celebration of Learning.

Medical Information for Week Without Walls
If students take any medication, ensure that enough is brought for the expected trip duration plus two additional days. Medication should be in the original container with the student’s name, dose and frequency noted. Please send any medication for your child to the school nurse one week before the trip (October 22).
Any updates to student medical conditions or emergency contact information since the last submitted medical form should be reported to the Health Office one week before the trip (October 22).

Passports & residency documents for Week Without Walls                                                                    Due to changes with airlines, all students must have their passport, FRRO papers or OCI card for the Week Without Walls trip. To ensure all students have a passport and all residency documents with them at the time of departure on Monday October 29, we will be collecting student passports on October 23 & 24. Passports will be collected on Tuesday October 23 from 8:00-9:00am and from 3:30-4:30 and again on Wednesday October 24 from 8:00-9:00am and 2:00-3:00pm. A passport collection area will be set up in the BBT on these days.
Parents, not students, are required to drop off the passport and sign that they have done so. Passports will be secured in the middle school office until the trip. They will also be scanned so that we have an updated electronic copy on file.
Team leaders will secure passports throughout the trip. Passports will be returned to students & parents upon arrival at AISC on 2 November.

Parent Questions: Math
Thank you for the outstanding attendance at our September coffee morning. Mr. Ryan Sager, Math Head of Department, has answered your questions about middle school math. You can find the questions and answers here. For the slides related to math pathways in the middle school, please see the Principal’s Notes from September 28.

Service Opportunity
The next Blue Cross animal shelter visit is scheduled for Saturday 20 October. A sign up will be in the daily bulletin Monday. Students with questions about going should see Ms. Heather Hall or Ms. Jen Gold.

See you around this weekend!
