Principal’s Notes
18 January
Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope the winter break brought valuable quality time with your families. We have a number of events happening as we start the new year. We will have a Parent Coffee, SEVAI day, MS Ensemble Concert, Student Parent Teacher Conferences and Celebrations of Learning this month.
Student Parent Teacher Conferences & Celebration of Learning
Next week you will receive an email to sign up for student parent teacher conferences. Conferences will be by appointment only and are made through the online booking system. The link will be sent to you via email. Conferences will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday January 31 and from 8:00am-4:00pm Friday February 1. The link will close January 29 at 4:00pm.
This trimester’s Celebration of Learning will take the form of a gallery walk. Students will display learning from a variety of classes in public areas around campus. As you transition between conferences, please ask your child to explain his/her learning showcased in the artifacts posted.
MS Ensemble concert
On Thursday, January 31, the middle school music department will present a concert of fun sounds featuring all of the musicians in the middle school. Bands, choirs, strings, and guitars will take turns delighting your ears with classical, pop, and more. We invite parents to come enjoy the Winter Concert before conferences, on Thursday, January 31 from 2:00-3:30pm in the AISC Auditorium.
Yearbook Photo Make Up Session
Students who joined AISC after August 20 or missed their opportunity to take a yearbook photo should plan on stopping by the BBT on 21-23 January. Individual emails will be sent to students and posted in the student daily bulletin.
January Parent Coffee
Our next parent coffee will be Tuesday January 22 from 8:45-9:45 in the Hall of Light. Jen Gold, our middle school counselor, will lead the session. The topic will be adolescents and wellbeing.
SEVAI Day
Our next SEVAI day is Wednesday, January 23. Students will be out in the community or on campus supporting organizations they began to work with in December. If your child is involved in an activity off campus, please remind him/her to bring a snack from home or purchase one on campus to take along. Groups that are off campus over lunch time will receive a packed lunch from school.
One of the organizations our students are learning about is the Writer’s Café. This organization supports burn victims by providing training and jobs to women who are burn victims. In December, our students learned to make gelato and baked cookies to be sold at the café and on AISC’s campus to support the organization.
