Dear Parents and students,
It is great to be back to school for the New Year. Students seem to be excited about seeing their friends and teachers again despite being online. Our new students have shown an incredible amount of perseverance and determination to make the best of this current situation. This is all very encouraging for our teachers and staff.
This week in the Middle School has been a busy one for teachers as they are preparing for the distribution of report cards on January 24th. These report cards include narrative comments that we are currently working on. Please be reminded that the attendance that is reported in this report card is for the blocks students missed and not days.
Enjoy the extended weekend and happy Pongal. Enjoy your time with friends and family.

Repeat information: Prevention Specialists at AISC January 2022
As part of our ongoing commitment to prevention and wellness, we have invited a prevention specialist from Prevention Solutions within the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to join our community during the week of January 17, 2022. This program will take place online while the students attend school in person. Some of the key topics that the specialist will address with our students are:
encouraging and supporting the non-use of alcohol and other illegal or illicit drugs during the growing years.
empowering young people to make healthy, responsible choices regarding alcohol and other drug use
teaching students and adults how to recognize the early warning signs of substance misuse and to intervene appropriately
educating students, parents, teachers, and administrators on the physiological and psychological effects of alcohol and other drugs
Repeat information: Mark your calendars: Portal Project - Parent Sessions
We are excited to introduce a speaker series for parents starting in November called Parenting Beyond the Pandemic. These virtual sessions will bring experts and practitioners directly to our parent community to address a variety of relevant topics. The full list of sessions can be found here and the titles below. Registration for the sessions will take place through Eventbrite.
We hope that you and your family are able to get some much needed rest and relaxation over the break. Enjoy time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone back in the New Year.
Take care,
Jennifer Bertram
