Welcome to the first mid-trimester Learning Habits Update. You should have received an email from your child with a link to their eportolio. If you have not received it yet, please ask your child to share it with you immediately. For the Learning Habits Update:
- Students individually conferenced with teachers to go over their Learning Habits.
- In Advisory, students individually conferenced with their advisor and look at the overall pattern of their Learning Habits
- Then they wrote a reflection on how their Learning Habits affect their academic performance.
What you see on their Learning Habits Update is an honest reflection of what your child has thought of his or her attitudes and attributes to learning thus far.
We invite you to log on to your child's eportolio to look at their Learning Habits Update and have a conversation with them as well. We encourage you to peruse the blog posts on their eportfolio as well.
Should you have an specific questions about it, please email their teachers and advisors directly.
Here comes Big Bad Blue!!!
On Friday, September 18th from 4-6pm and Saturday, September 19th from 8:30am-5:30pm, we will be hosting the 12th Annual Big Bad Blue Swim Meet here at AISC. Friday evening there will be 4 events swum by our AISC Team and on Saturday we will welcome 9 local teams to join us in a full day of competitive splendor. We invite the community to join us to cheer on our teams as they prepare for their SAISA competition in Muscat, Oman at the end of October.
Design Saturdays at AISC
Creating, building and making things with your own hands promotes the development of problem solving and creativity skills and builds confidence.
This year AISC is proud to offer our community an amazing opportunity to get creative at our all new Design Saturday events. These will involve students in collaborative challenges using a wide variety of materials with coaching from instructors.
When: The first event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th.
Who: Open to students from grades 1-12. Parents must participate with their children from G1-5.
What: Our first challenges will be "Angry Birds comes to Life" and "Surprising Structures from
Surprising Materials".
Cost: Free
How: Sign-up through a link in the daily bulletin beginning Monday.
Where: FAC Cafeteria and Main Field
No prior technical expertise is necessary and activities will be approachable for boys and girls of all ages. Please direct any questions to Kevin Crouch at itdirector@aisch.org.

Dot Day Celebration
Our community celebrated Dot Day this week on Tuesday, September 15th. Dot Day is a worldwide event where participants do numerous fun activities to celebrate creativity and where we explore ways through which we can make positive contributions to the world around us. Inspiration for the day started a few years ago when Peter H. Reynolds’ book “The Dot” was published, a book in which the main character goes through a powerful self-transformation as she taps more and more into her inner creativity.
This year, the AISC community designed dots that they wore around school - dots with inspirational messages, drawings, and personal affirmations of how we are all living our school mission. We also had display boards housed near the main courtyard where people could then display their dots for everyone to see and learn from. Please come check these out - they will be up until Tuesday.
Food Service Update
There are several new offerings in both the Elementary School Cafeteria and the i Hub beginning next week. The first is the Salad of the Day. The Taj Madras Flight Kitchen will be offering 5 different veg and non-veg salads such as (Greek salad, Waldorf salad, Fattoush salad, Som tum salad, Sprout bean salad, Chicken Caesar salad, Russian chicken & egg salad, Mexican chicken salad, Tuna salad, Hawaiian chicken salad) and the cost will be (Veg-Rs.80, Non veg- Rs.130). We will also begin offering a Vegetable Juice of the Day as well in both locations. Tasty juices like (Carrot, Avocado with milk & honey, Beetroot & apple, Cucumber with celery & ginger, Detox veg) will be offered in both locations for (Rs.80).
Food services at AISC are always in continual improvement. October Early Release
Our next Early Release day will be on Wednesday, 7 October at 1:30.
- Our students will have an abbreviated schedule, which ends at 1:30. This will include lunch.
- There is no supervision for any activity after 1:30; therefore, all students need to be off campus at that time.
- There are no ASAs, clubs or sports on Wednesdays.
- If you have any questions regarding early release, please contact the Middle School Office.
20/21 Learning Dialogues. Please join us on October 8.
As a 20 year old learning organization, we want to continue to explore trends, issues, stories, conversations, and topics that are relevant to our community. We want to look ahead to the next 20 years.To help us do this, we will have a series of dialogues that are open to parents, alumni, MS/HS students and faculty.
On Thursday, October 8, we will be talking about creativity. Doors open at 3:45 p.m., and the event starts at 4:15 p.m. It will end at 5:45 p.m. The location of this dialogue will be decided soon.
