Principal’s Notes
March 15
Dear Parents,
Yesterday second trimester report cards and Learning Habits reflections were distributed. I hope that you have found the report and reflection useful to have conversations with your child about his/her learning and progress thus far this school year. If you have questions about a grade or comment, please contact your child’s teacher directly. If you have a general question about your child’s progress or the report card, your child’s advisor is a helpful starting point for your inquiries. Our Learning Habits reflection is a new addition to our reporting process this year. We value your feedback on the usefulness of this reflection to understand your child as a learner. Please take a few minutes to complete this two-question survey about the Learning Habits reflection.
You will be able to access an electronic copy of your child's report card on PowerSchool on Wednesday, March 20. In this video below, you will find instructions for accessing your child's report.
Coffee Morning Follow-Up
Thank you to those of you who joined us for our coffee morning this week. As a follow up, here is the presentation from the coffee. If you were not able to attend, please review information about changes to our Grade Seven math program. Included in the presentation are articles and research that provide additional rationale behind our decision to discontinue Pre-Integrated Math in Grade Seven. Parent questions about our math program were collected at the meeting and responses will be published next week. If you have further questions about the change, please send questions to msprincipal@aischennai.org.
STEAM Fest
STEAM Fest is Monday, March 18! We hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate our students’ creativity and innovation. All projects will be on display throughout the afternoon from 1:15-3:00pm. Students will rotate through their presentations according to the schedule below. You can check your child’s science block using this document.
E-Portfolios and MS Conferences
Friday April 5 is our annual E-portfolio day. The purpose of the conference is for students to engage in a meaningful conversation about their learning. The conference is student-led so that students can take an active role in interpreting their learning. During this time, students will present their E-portfolios to parents and explain their strengths and areas of growth. On Friday April 5, there will be no MS classes.
E-portfolio conferences and our celebration of learning will take place from 8:40-10:20am. Optional student-parent-teacher conferences will follow from 10:50am-4:00pm. Appointments are ten minutes in length. If you would like to schedule a conference with a teacher, please use the link below.
The link for scheduling will close on Wednesday, April 3.
Celebration of Learning: SEVAI Showcase
Join us for our final celebration of learning for the year on Friday, April 5. This trimester, all MS students will be sharing their learning from their SEVAI experience and the contributions they were able to make to the community. Our community partners will be present for you to learn more about the work done by their organizations in Chennai.
