Dear Parents and students,

It has been a great week in the Middle School as students, teachers and parents were able to interact with the Prevention Solutions Specialists. Students were given lots of information about healthy habits as well as the protective factors present in their lives. Please have a conversation with your child about the topics presented to them by the Prevention Solutions specialist team.

This coming week we will be sending home Semester One report cards for students. These reports include comments as well as achievement levels according to standards and learning habits. We hope to see you this Tuesday at our MS Parent Coffee regarding grading. In this Parent Coffee we will give you an overview of the report card and explain the details of each different section of the report. It would be wise to bring your child’s report card to the Parent Coffee. We look forward to seeing you there. (Details and time below.)

AP and IB Programs at AISC: Informational Presentation

Tuesday, January 25th 10:00 – 10:45am. Zoom link here (passcode CaFv0F).  An overview of the IB and AP programs from Mr. Malone.  This is appropriate for parents of 8th, 9th and 10th graders as you support your child’s course selection for 2022-2023.

 

Prevention Solutions Specialists:

This week Anne McDonald from Prevention Solutions met with all the middle school students to talk about substance use and abuse.  There were discussions about risk factors with substance use and healthy alternatives. The students were very engaged in the discussions and are demonstrating great understanding about themselves, their development and taking care of themselves.  On Thursday, Anne led a session for MS parents and you can find the recording here. HW club Session 2  will be virtual on Mondays and Fridays from 3.45 pm to 4.30 pm. Students can enroll in the HW club using the sign-up form.  HS tutors volunteer to support our MS students. So, we highly recommend both new and returning students use this opportunity and get guidance from our HS tutors. We appreciate students who have already signed up for the HW club.

We are excited to introduce a speaker series for parents starting in November called Parenting Beyond the Pandemic. These virtual sessions will bring experts and practitioners directly to our parent community to address a variety of relevant topics. The full list of sessions can be found here and the titles below.
