Dear Parents and students,
This was another great week on campus. Our students are enthusiastic about their learning in the classrooms and playing with their friends at lunch and recess. As you spend some time this weekend reviewing the week, ask your children about how their week was connected to the AISC mission. Can they give you an example of how they showed their love of learning? Perhaps they can tell the story of how they were compassionate this week. As we transition back into in person school, it is important to remember that our AISC mission and core values are what should drive our behavior.
We also wanted to share that the students from the Student Voices Forum (SVF) were instrumental in getting baskets placed above the hand sanitizer dispensers to provide students and staff with replacement masks on campus. They have also lobbied with success to have important Raptor Safe information shared in the Student Daily Bulletin. If you are an eighth grade parent, please circle this date: March 3rd, 2022. We will host a Parent Coffee for 8th grade registration for 9th grade classes from 8:30 - 9:30am. Details to follow in the Principals blogs.
EAL Coffee:
Join DaveAllen and Sabrina Kim for an all school parent coffee where we will take a look at the process of language learning, how we support ELL students at AISC, and how you can support your child through transitions from virtual to in person. We will focus on practical tips that promote social and academic language growth. The coffee will be held on Thursday February 17th at 8:45am.
Back to campus:
SNACKS - will no longer be provided for MS students at break after February 17th. However, on February 21st students will be able to purchase snacks in the cafeteria. Students can pay in cash at the counter or top up their cards.
HOT LUNCHES - will be starting next week, except on Wednesday February 16th due to the overlap with High School lunch. Students will be seated on the landings for lunch.
EXIT - We will continue to follow the staggered exit timings for now. Here are the timings:
6th grade: 3:30/2:30 (Wed)
7th grade: 3:35/2:35(Wed)
8th grade: 3:40/2:40(Wed)
PANBIO TESTS -
Remember: COVID-19 test strips at the entry on only Monday and Thursday.
GYMS
Will be open next week for students to play at lunch!!

The library is once again available to MS students before school, during breaks, and during lunch. Students must sign in when entering in order to assist in contact tracing if need be.

We are excited to introduce a speaker series for parents starting in November called Parenting Beyond the Pandemic. These virtual sessions will bring experts and practitioners directly to our parent community to address a variety of relevant topics. The full list of sessions can be found here and the titles below. Registration for the sessions will take place through Eventbrite.
