Dear Parents and students,
Today we held our Vision for an AISC Learner Day where students were connecting the Vision for an AISC Learner traits with different activities such as scuba diving, surfing, synchronized swimming, card making and journal making among other activities. Teachers were creative in selecting activities that showcased students’ abilities to collaborate with others, be innovators and leaders, and also be empathetic. Here are some photos from the day:
Thanks to Experiential Learning Coordinator, Gemma Adderley, for all her work to organize the day. Special thanks to Monicka, Antony and the AISC transportation and cafeteria staff for helping out. Also, a huge thanks goes out to our MS teachers who were able to get creative with the ways in which MS students lived our Vision for an AISC Learner traits. It was a fabulous day!

Portfolio Conferences:
Thank you to all the parents and students who conducted the portfolio conferences this past Wednesday. Here are some of the comments you sent us about your child’s learning:
“It was great to see some pictures of my daughter at school with her classmates. It is also interesting to discover some of her projects with her and what has been important to her.”
“...improved her English, logical thinking, learning habits.”
“As a result of studying along with fun school activities, I was able to see that my children develop their skills while enjoying school life.”
Parents also mentioned being proud of their children for being able to think for themselves and utilize the knowledge gained from learning to remember new things. Other parents mentioned that their children have developed more communication skills over this past year. Finally, parents shared that their children had a sense of accomplishment while discussing what they had studied while working on a project with a friend.
These conversations between parents and students about learning are a vital part of each student’s learning experience and we thank all the parents who participated very much!
MS Art Exhibition:
Come and join us at the Middle School Art Exhibition with the opening reception at the FAC Atrium on Thursday May 19th from 3:45 - 4:45pm. You can also see the artwork on display from May 19th to May 27th. Join our MS students in appreciating their creativity and confidence!
MS Spring Production: Teddy & Rikki Tikki Tavi

Come and watch two stories about friendship, courage, and the fear of change.Teddy is written by AISC’s own resident playwright Balajee Ginjapalee and based on Rudyard Kipling’s (author of The Jungle Book) short story; Rikki Tikki Tavi. The story takes place in the garden of a bungalow in Bihar, where Teddy’s family recently moved to. Teddy has challenges making human friends, but grows close to the many animals in the garden. There he learns about two dangerous cobras who slither about, terrorizing all the animals. All hope is lost until a monsoon brings in a brave little mongoose known as Rikki Tikki Tavi, who helps his new family conquer the wicked cobras and becomes a true friend to Teddy.
HS Art Exhibition:
You can now visit the HS Visual Art Exhibitions virtually! See students’ bodies of work in various mixed media including digital art/animation, sculpture/ceramics, and contemporary. Support your fellow artists at the HS Art Exhibition, FAC Atrium, until this afternoon!
Library Materials
Please remember that all library materials are due in either the ES/MS or HS libraries on Monday, May 16th. Please remind your students and/or children to bring them in on time. Thanks so much for your support and if you have any questions, please let Ms. Babs know.
Repeat information: Letters of Recommendation:
If you will be leaving AISC at the end of the school year and need a letter of recommendation please make the request to the middle school counseling office by May 20. This will ensure that we will get you the documents needed before the faculty leave for summer. If letters are requested after school has gone on summer holiday we can not ensure that we will get you a letter in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding. Repeat information: Masks optional outside starting Monday
We’re continuing to watch the cases in Chennai and among the AISC community. Things seem quite stable still. We’re keenly aware of the heat and humidity. We know that COVID-19 is very difficult to transmit with ample fresh air. In attempting to balance those factors with any external requirements, starting Monday, masks may again be removed while outdoors. Please continue to wear your mask while in the entry/exit area of campus, and at all times while indoors.
Repeat information: Request to Issue Transfer Certificate/Past Records:
The MS office has updated the form to request a transfer certificate and school records. You can access the form by clicking on the link above. You can also stop by the office to pick up a paper copy. Please be aware of the following points when requesting documents or a transfer certificate:
The office requires 5 working days' notice in order to process the transfer certificate request.
Transfer certificate and/or past records will be issued on the student’s last day at school provided all school materials and fees are accounted for.
One set of documents will be issued by the school. Additional copies if required (not more than 10 sets) can be made by family and brought to the office for school stamp / seal.
