Dear Parents,
It has been great meeting many of you around campus. There will be several events coming up this month, Welcome Back Picnic, Parent Coffee and Back to School Night; I look forward to meeting all of you at these events and throughout the year.
After School Activities
ASAs start on Monday, 19 August.
- Middle school students go directly to the activity locations for their ASA.
- Homework club will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays in room 3116.
- With regard to locations for various middle school activities, the ASA office will send the information on Monday morning to the students through their classroom teachers.

Back to School Night - Thursday, 29 August, starting at 6:00 pm, with refreshments at 5:30 pm
The purpose of this night is for parents to meet the teachers and find out information about the course content, expectations of the teacher, and set the foundation for school to home communication and discussing ways that teachers and parents can work together to support learning. Students are welcome to attend to help with translation needs.
Because the time is short, this will not be the time for discussions about individual students. Student-Parent-Teacher conferences will take place in November. Parents may schedule appointments with teachers at any time during the school year to discuss their child’s academic progress. Please reserve the evening of August 30 to attend this event.
Communication
If and when issues or concerns arise about school, it is always most effectively done when they are brought to the immediate attention of the appropriate faculty member or administrator. At AISC, we ask students and parents to use the following procedure:
- Discuss the matter first with the classroom teacher if it relates to grades, curriculum, homework, class behavior, etc.
- If the matter cannot be resolved with the teacher, then discuss it with the Principal or the Counselor, as appropriate.
- If the matter cannot be resolved with the Principal or Counselor, then discuss it with Head of School.
CABARET - MAJOR CABARET ANNOUNCEMENT!
Taking student inquiries into consideration, and because Cabaret really is unseasonably early this year, the Performing Arts Department has decided to hold auditions on August 26, 27 and 28. Please make this change in your calendar now! Auditions for Cabaret will be held August 26, 27 and 28. Dancers, jugglers, mimes, rock bands, vocal harmonies, pianists, ethnic musicians, guitar shredders, opera divas, national choreography, stand up comedians, Carnatic percussion, acrobats and more! The signup web page is open and accepting your data: sign in to your aisch.org email, then click here to get helpful tips for a great audition. Click here to fill the sign up form. Talk to Mr. Stewart or another Performing Arts teacher about questions. CABARET 2013!
