Dear Middle School Parents,
We just heard a sneak preview of the Gala Concert this afternoon. We were blown away at the talent on stage. You will be impressed with these 88 musicians from 15 international schools around the Asia region, representing their schools at this year’s AMIS (Association for Music in International Schools) Honor Band Festival.
Don’t miss out on Gala Concert on Saturday, February 14 at 6.00 p.m. in the AISC auditorium. There is no better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than listening to the beautiful music of these young Mozarts, Bachs, Louis Armstrongs, and A.R. Rahmans. Follow them on the AMIS Website.
Middle School Coffee Tuesday, 17 February @8:45 in BBT
From the feedback from the parent reps, there is interest in learning a little about the AP and IB programs in the High School. Mr. Phan will provide an overview of the two programs and give a little insight to High School and what is needed for university. Ms. Joelle Basnight, HS Principal, will be there as well to answer any questions. This is an overall preview for Middle School parents who would like to know more about the two programs. There will be one specifically for Grade 8 transitioning to Grade 9 later on in the Spring.
STEM Fest
On behave of the Middle School Math and Science Departments, we invite you to participate in our all school STEM Fest celebration on Thursday, 19 February from 1:00- 3:30. All of our students have been diligently working on their projects which will be officially displayed and tested before the whole AISC community. Guest Artist on Campus-- After-school Workshops!
From next Monday the 16th to Friday the 27th AISC has the honor to host three artists from Sukawati village on the island of Bali.
Sukawati village is the center of puppet theatre in Bali and the lead artist, I Kadek Budi Setiawan, belongs to a world renown family of Balinese puppeteers.
Kadek will be joined by his accompanists, I Komang Ariawan, and the 15 year old gamelan sensation, Made Prameswara. Over their residency they will work with art, music and theatre teachers from the elementary, middle, and high school.
Students who would like to learn more about Shadow Puppetry, Balinese Dance, and Gamelan Music are invited to take the after school workshops in the FAC theatre room 2709, from 3:45-4:45, Mon-Thursday.
Students who attend after school workshops will be invited to perform in music and puppetry with the artists at the school wide R.I.S.E. event on February 27th.
SAISA Track and Field
The season starts on Monday, February 16 for students from 5th Grade-12th Grade.
Practice Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Time: 6:15a.m.- 8:00a.m.
5th Grade Athletes: Attend 2 days a week practice
6th-12th Athletes: Attend 4 days a week practice
*Athletes should attend the first practice with running shoes (preferably fairly new running shoes). They also need to bring a water bottle and change of clothes.
Mandatory Practice if you are a jumper or interested in learning how to long/high jump.
*February 18th and February 25th
*3:45PM-5:00PM High Jump and Long Jump Clinic Mandatory! (this clinic will count as one of your practices for that week)

Operation Smile ULead Conference
Dear Middle School students,
As part of Operation Smile, we are hosting AISC's first ULead Conference! Full of inspiring speakers, memorable leadership building activities, and cleft lip and palate awareness, we are excited to invite those of you who are interested to join us. The conference's main theme is to promote awareness for cleft lip and palate, as well as teaching and fostering leadership and teamwork skills. It will occur on the 27th and 28th of February. On behalf of our High School group, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to all of you to a weekend of inspiration and smiles.

Keeping it Clean at Home
While at school using the AISC network your child is safe from the risks of finding inappropriate adult content online. At home, however, they may not be protected by the same restrictions. Do you know how to be sure your child is safe while searching the web? Whether its a spelling accident or curiosity, be prepared at home by locking safe search on student BYOT devices. Here's how to do it.
- Sign in to Google with a Google account other than your child's.
- At the bottom of the screen choose Settings->Search Settings
- Tick the box Filter Explicit Results and click Lock Safe Search
- You will be asked to enter your password again. Use your password, not your child's.
- Click Lock Safe Search again and wait for it to complete.
- Complete this on other installed browsers such as Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox.
- When you search, you will now see some colorful balloons in the upper right.
- If your child is using his or her laptop in line-of-sight from you, you should be able to see this symbol to be assured.
