Friday May 17

Principal’s Notes
May 17

Dear Parents,

As we prepare for the end of the year, we will be distributing end of year checklists to returning and departing students. Please remind your child to return any athletic uniforms or equipment and library books. Students will not be able to receive their yearbook if these items are outstanding. Please remind your child to return these items by Monday 27 May at the latest if they have not already done so.

Paperwork for Departing Students
Please note that parents of all withdrawing students must complete the “Request to Issue Transfer Certificate” if your child is not returning. This form indicates to the middle school office that you need a transfer certificate for your child. These are not automatically generated for departing students.

You can download a copy of the form here or pick up a paper copy in the MS office. Please return the completed form to Aziz in the MS office. Please give the middle school office five working days (school days) to fulfill requests for grade reports or other paperwork needed for student withdraws.

Grade Eight Promotion Ceremony
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 30. The Grade Eight students will have a day of celebration on campus to mark their transition to High School. They will have a special schedule for the day and parents are invited to the formal event from 11:10 am to 11:45 pm, in the FAC Theater.

Grade Six and Seven End of Year Recognition Assemblies
Each grade level holds a year-end assembly that celebrates and is tailored to their age level. This approach to end-of-year recognition is in keeping with the middle school philosophy and is a positive and meaningful celebration for all of our students.

The Grade Seven recognition assembly will be held on Friday, May 31st from  12:00 - 1:00 pm in the BBT. During this celebration, we will recognize students with the 4 Cs Awards. Each 7th grader will have selected a time or an event during the year when they have demonstrated one of the 4 C’s in a meaningful way. These will be read to the group by a classmate. All parents are invited to this important celebration.

Grade Six will be celebrating the important goal that each student feels that they have accomplished and will be given a certificate stating the attainment of their goal. The 6th grade I-awards will be held on Friday, May 31st 12:00 - 1:15 in the Hall of Light. All grade six parents are invited to celebrate and recognize the emotional, intellectual, and social achievements that students have made.
